Recently, we were contacted by West Inn & Suites in Carlsbad, California. They are a great local hotel that offers great rooms and nice amenities at a moderate price. They contacted us because they were looking for a company who could create a new custom breakfast counter sign inside the hotel. We enjoy working with West Inn & Suites hotel, and helping them with other sign related projects on the property.
The sign, as you can see in the images in this article, is designed to sit on a countertop and greet guests with information about the breakfast, including what times food will be served.
The challenge they gave us was that due to where this sign was going to be located, West Inn & Suites was looking for a sturdy sign, yet also attractive in keeping with the quality of the hotel. With many people and kids walking by the breakfast bar buffet counter, and with the potential of spills and getting knocked over by patrons, a sturdy and waterproof sign was required. They did not want to have to replace their sign every few weeks. This is one of those cases where opting for the higher-quality sign product ends up saving more in the long run.
To solve for their needs, we recommended a custom printed full color giclée print that is 8.5″ wide by 14″ tall, directly on 1/8″ thick aluminum with a durable clear coat over the top for added protection and durability. It includes an 8.5″ wide brushed aluminum stand with an angled slot to hold the graphic panel.
About Giclée Prints
Giclée prints are a term coined by a printmaker in 1991 to refer to the fine art digital prints that they were making with an inkjet printer. These early high-resolution printers were the first to be able to replicate fine art perfectly. Today’s printers will print up to 1200 dpi (dots per inches) and can replicate an image exactly. For example, if you print a replica of a famous old painting that has small imperfections, the imperfections will also be replicated perfectly, resulting in a more accurate representation.
High-resolution printing has made great advances, and now the technology that we have at North Coast Signs, in our shop, rivals large-scale commercial printers developed back in 1991 – which were cutting-edge at the time. We can provide anything from small and durable tabletop or countertop signs like this one we made for West Inn & Suites, to large-scale wall graphics and wall murals that deliver big impact.
We are a full-service custom sign and graphic design company located in Vista, California, and serving the North San Diego County area. If you have any questions about tabletop signs, signs for hotels, giclée prints or anything else sign related, we would be more than happy to help. Feel free to call or stop by our sign studio today.
