When driving down the street, monument signs identify which tenants are located in the business park. Monument signs help businesses get noticed, particularly when their building is not visible from the road. Monument signs come in all shapes, sizes, and materials.
The monument sign in this photo was “v” shaped so that it is visible from both sides of the street. When we received the call from First Industrial Realty Trust (a leading national owner of industrial properties in Southern California), to see how we could improve their sign, we met the challenge. They were not sure if they wanted to replace the sign entirely with a larger monument sign, or to resurface the existing one. The goal was to increase visibility and include all six tenants.
The original sign measured only 3′ tall, and only had space for only one tenants signage. We researched the allowable sign criteria with the City of Carlsbad for that street address, which allowed up to 6′ tall sign.
We came up with a design similar to a “toaster cover” to place a custom fabricated metal box over the existing monument sign, to have a taller 6′ monument sign that included six panels for tenants signage. We created dimensional letters for the address numbers, and placed them higher for increased visibility.
As you can see, here are before and after photos. The new monument sign is much more visible and comprehensive, for all to see.
The cost for resurfacing an existing monument sign was considerably less than removing the old one and constructing a brand new one. No digging necessary. The new monument sign achieved the goals and worked better for the budget.
Each tenant placard is an aluminum panel with rounded corners, with a vinyl print that is UV laminated to withstand the elements.
A professional, updated monument sign, showcasing all the tenants wonderfully. The customer was thrilled with the results, and so were all six tenants!
