Churches are very special buildings for many, playing a central role in their neighborhoods. It’s important that churches have the proper signage needed for attracting attention from the public. At the same time, churches usually have strict budgets to consider, alongside the need to make their investment truly worthwhile. Many churches require internal approval from leadership and boards. Put together, a sign project for a church can be complex. We recently worked with Las Flores Church in Carlsbad to create a new exterior monument sign. As they recently rebranded with a new logo, we created a sign that checked off every part of their list with simplicity and style.
To start, our team met for a site survey to listen to their objectives for an exterior monument sign. Next, we provided design proofs with options to review. Our team custom designed and built an attractive sign built for longevity for Las Flores Church. The final result is a non-illuminated monument sign sitting at 45” tall by 96” wide, and 12” deep. It can be lit externally for all to see at night. For durability, our team chose to construct the sign from aluminum, painting it white using Matthews paint. The logo was mounted using 1/2” thick acrylic painted to match their branding Pantone colors. Installation with a concrete pad secured the foundation for a durable monument sign. Everything came together seamlessly for an attractive sign!
Las Flores Church moved to its current location in 1973, having outgrown its original building when the church began in 1947 with 22 people. The congregation and its leadership are passionate and committed to being connected with the local community. They got in touch with us because they needed a new monument sign that would withstand the elements and last for generations.
Our team’s work with Las Flores Church included not just the design and proofs but also the demolition and disposal of existing brick pillars. It also involved the complete installation of the new monument sign, including new posts with concrete footing and the concrete pad. In addition, we handled the permit processing with the City of Carlsbad, so our client didn’t have to worry about any of those extra details.
At every step of the way, our team worked with the church pastor to ensure that the design solutions met their needs and their approval for an effective exterior monument sign.
