When a company updates its logo or other branding features, we help update signage! There is a lot of work to be done to update the places where the old logo exists — especially the main entry lobby. Our client in Carlsbad, TRU Simulation, rebranded with a new modern logo. They needed their illuminated lobby sign updated for brand consistency. The lobby wall was curved, posing a unique challenge we were happy to tackle.
TRU Simulation is leading the way in its industry. They provide high-tech simulation and training for both civil and defense industry customers involved in aviation. Their new logo reflects their commitment to keeping up with the times. We are pleased they selected us as their partner to bring that logo to life in their updated illuminated lobby sign.
TRU Simulation wanted their new logo sign to be fabricated in similar materials as their old lobby sign. So, we started this project by surveying the old signage, taking measurements and working to create a design proof which they approved with the new logo. Working with the curved wall entailed making sure our pattern accommodated the curvature, so that the lobby sign was straight when viewed from the front.
Once we had approvals from the decision makers, then we could begin fabrication.
As a result, the main part of the new illuminated lobby sign features ‘TRU’ in 2” thick steel with Lexan back material with L brackets. It mounts security to the wall with studs and spacers. The halo-lit effect came from using UL certified white LEDs run on a 60 watt power supply. These letters were painted a particular Blue 294 and brushed silver finish, matching the new logo. The words ’Simulation + Training’ were created in 3/4” thick acrylic. In addition, they were painted a standard black and stud mounted with spacers. Finally, ‘A Textron Company’ was fabricated out of 3/8” thick acrylic, painted standard black and flush mounted with VHB tape. Similarly, all of the letters feature brushed aluminum laminate.
In completion of this project, the installation spanned over two days. On the first day, we removed the old illuminated lobby sign and its wiring. Then we patched and painted the wall. This created a clean slate for our new illuminated lobby sign, custom fabricated.
On the next day, we handled the new electrical work on the illuminated letters. Our installation uses a custom drill pattern for the letters, ensuring that the letters were all installed at the same depth despite the curve of the wall. We aim for perfection in all that we do. As a result, our client was pleased with this custom illuminated lobby sign project.
