After providing excellence in the exterior electrical signage project, the Sam Ash Music Corp. requested our team to provide their interior directional signs. This new store required many areas and rooms to have signage to guide customers easily. Our team started with a site survey with a walk-through of all that was needed, then went to work.
Imagining what a new customer would experience: walking into this music store, with only a general idea of what they wanted. Knowing they wanted to learn to play the guitar, they would walk over to the wall covered with all sorts of guitars. Where to begin? What are the differences, comparisons, contrasts? Simple! As seen in the photo above, the directional signs installed show the difference between bass guitars, acoustic guitars, hollow-bodied variety as the beautiful signs facilitate the distinctions.
Stretching across the span of the middle of the store, is an acrylic lettering sign (1/8” thick black acrylic, and red bar) that promotes the Sam Ash brand:
“Welcome to Sam Ash – Serving Musicians since 1934”
A warm welcome to the public, the brand has endured over 88 years in business! “Sam Ash is known as “The World’s Favorite Music Store,” but they didn’t arrive at that title overnight. The Sam Ash saga is a classic business story. It encompasses the American dream, retaining the basic concepts of a family-run business even today. From very simple beginnings the company has grown to forty-five music superstores.” – http://samashmusic.com/history/
This directional sign project was a huge one – and we got started with design proofs to show how the sign would look on each area identified. The aesthetic was consistent with the Sam Ash branding font and colors, and once the customer approved the proofs, we began production.
The wall signs were direct printed on 6mm black Sintra with slatwall slips adhered to the upper back of the signs. The quantities and sizes of each sign were as follows: 10”x 2” (12), 10”x 3” (8), 1’x 4’ (18), 1’x 6’ (7), 2’x 6’ (2), as well as several 18”x 64”.
Many vinyl signs were also produced for the front entrance doors, demo room doors, studio and manager office doors, in addition to the glass panels in the back room swinging access doors.
ADA restroom signs were also provided with the standard tactile/Braille required by code.
The installation included a custom mounting patterns, and using a scissor lift to reach the interior directional signage up to 19’ high. Working with a deadline on Black Friday, we managed to get the installation just in time for the Grand Opening!
With this successful wayfinding directional sign installation, the client is able to direct customers with ease, as well as having customers navigate themselves through the array of amazing instruments and offerings.
